The Family Histories Podcast has been proud to participate in Podcasthon – an international podcasting event where podcasters release at least one episode of their shows that focus on a charity during a specified week of March.
As family historians, we bump into many historical artefacts that reflect the medical, political, and societal attitudes or understanding of their period, and therefore, here at The Family Histories Podcast, we wanted to highlight charitable causes that link to those themes.
In 2026, we have chosen to support Combat Stress the UK’s leading veterans’ mental health charity.
If you’re able to support the work of Combat Stress with a donation, you can do so via a fundraising page that we’ve set up with them.
Alternatively, if you are a veteran or serving personnel, you can access support at the Combat Stress website, and if you’re outside the UK, then Charity Journal has compiled a list of similar international support organisations.
Here are our Podcasthon episodes so far;
S10EP09 – ‘The Captured’ with Natalie Mayhew and Prof. Walter Busuttil
Andrew meets Natalie Mayhew and hears about a man who spent 5 years as a Prisoner of War, and they’re joined by Prof. Walter Busuttil of Combat Stress.
S08EP09 – ‘The Invisible’ with Jane Hough and Kathryn Burtinshaw
Andrew welcomes back Jane Hough to the podcast and they’re joined by Kathryn Burtinshaw as they explore mental health history and Jane’s ancestor Maude.
