Our seventh series has now come to an end with bonus episode ‘The Tower’ with host Andrew Martin, guest Morag Peers, and the Princes in the Tower.
This series has heard about the lives of ordinary people doing extraordinary things including joining the Belgian Resistance in the Second World War, going into battle in the Pacific Ocean, helping the Welsh language to thrive, travelling the world by sea, and escaping the Holocaust.
This series has also seen the podcast’s download figures grow and smash a large number thanks to listeners spread across 113 countries. We also debuted in Apple Podcasts’ ‘Top Shows’ in History chart in Honduras, whilst returning to the charts in the UK.
Thank you
So, it’s a huge thank you from me to all of our listeners – whether you’ve listened to one or two, or you’re avidly waiting each week for an episode, or whether you listen to them some time later as a catch-up. Every listen is so gratefully received.
Of course, I must also thank all of those who helped make this series; my guests Jackie Kohnstamm, Dave Annal, Todd Lucero Sales, Marie Cappart, Dai Davies, Scott Fisher, and Morag Peers. Also the voice talents of John Spike (Sándor Petőfi), Etienne Durant (Charles Babbage), George Orchard (King Edward V) and George Mills (Richard, Duke of York).
Cracking the Brick Walls
This series also saw some of the most correspondence in relation to guests brick walls, with Jackie Kohnstamm’s search for Jutta Townsend in West Yorkshire, England, generating lots of feedback from listeners with clues and ideas to help further Jackie’s research, and also another descendant from an earlier branch!
While we get busy planning for Series Eight, why not take some time to see if you can help knock one of our guests’ brick walls down or sign up to our email list.
Again, thank you so much for listening, for sharing, for subscribing, for rating, for reviewing, and for emailing in. I am very grateful.
Andrew
